For this new adventure we leave from the<strong> dock of Pietra Ligure<\/strong> and we head towards Borgo Vecchio.<br \/>\nFrom here following the signs to the Church of San Martino we get to the medieval<strong> village of Ranzi<\/strong>. It is a small inhabited village over Pietra Ligure where we can enjoy a stunning view of the sea from.<\/p>\n<div class=\"spazio30\"><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1509 aligncenter img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ranzi-trekking.jpg\" alt=\"Trekking in Ranzi, Pietra Ligure\" width=\"785\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ranzi-trekking.jpg 785w, https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ranzi-trekking-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Ranzi-trekking-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"spazio30\"><\/div>\n<p>Crossing the typical cobblestone alleys of the village we reach the central square where annually the famous Local Wine Festival (also known as \u201cSagra del Vino Nostralino\u201d) takes place.<br \/>\nAt once we notice the signposts for the ancient <strong>Path of the Hay<\/strong>\u00a0(Via del Fieno) and we follow them, eager to discover what surprises this old mule track from Pietra Ligure up to <strong>Monte Carmo<\/strong> has for us.<br \/>\nThe Hay Trail originally was the path the local farmers covered with their mules during the <strong>haymaking season<\/strong>.<br \/>\nSo it was of such great importance that a city ordinance obliged the hayfields owners to devote 3-4 days a year to its maintenance.<br \/>\nWe walk along this route, rich in history, and after 2.5 km we meet a small way crossing the main trail.<br \/>\nIt is a detour which leads to the <strong>Church of San Martino<\/strong> dating back to 1200; from here we can have a breathtaking view.<\/p>\n<div class=\"spazio30\"><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1508 aligncenter img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Chiesa-san-martino.jpg\" alt=\"San Martino Church, Pietra Ligure\" width=\"785\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Chiesa-san-martino.jpg 785w, https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Chiesa-san-martino-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Chiesa-san-martino-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"spazio30\"><\/div>\n<p>After admiring the ancient religious building we retrace our steps. Once more we take the Hay Trail and we meet a new surprise: an 18th-century circular stone building.<br \/>\nIt is the <strong>Cabanun Maggiore<\/strong>, an <strong>old shelter<\/strong> which was built to protect carriers and mules with their hay loads.<\/p>\n<div class=\"spazio30\"><\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1511 aligncenter img-responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Cabanun.jpg\" alt=\"cabanun Maggiore, Pietra Ligure\" width=\"785\" height=\"442\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Cabanun.jpg 785w, https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Cabanun-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blog.residenceliguria.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/Cabanun-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 785px) 100vw, 785px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"spazio30\"><\/div>\n<p>It is not the only one here as there are other similar constructions nearby, known as <strong>Caselle<\/strong>. If we want to admire them we can take a ring path also called Anello delle Caselle starting just a little above where we are.<br \/>\nWe decide to go on walking along our way towards the refuge through the Hay Trail.
