GOLFO DIANESE BIKE PARK
After a short break, our rider Giacomo Dodino and LiguriaBikeXperience are back.
For the fifth chapter of our MTB tour we take you to San Bartolomeo and Diano Marina, places close to each other, with a large number of trails. So much so that for several years the trails of the Gulf of Diano hosted the Italian SuperEnduro circuit, so this town has become famous for Italians and foreign Enduro lovers.
Tommaso Francardo, Enduro athlete, takes care of the cleaning and maintenance of the trails in the area and he is going to be our guide. He will take us on a new, just finished, trail! Let’s start then!
As we wrote before there are many trails around Diano Marina. For example, those who enjoy pedaling can start from here and arrive to Cervo, going through San Bartolomeo. It is a 30-minute ascent route along which you cross several trails, usually with a breathtaking sea view.
Those who ride downhill will have the opportunity to take advantage of the Bike Shuttle services offered by associations in the area to quickly reach the top and then go wild downhill!
This time the two riders have ridden more trails as usually they did in the last chapters. They have chosen 5 trails among the best of the Bike Park located above Diano Marina and Diano Castello.
The Maiali perhaps is the most famous trail of the Bike Park and it goes down till San Bartolomeo. Most of the trail has a rocky ground and there are a lot of drops. It is a physical trail but it’s really fun!
We are at Diano Marina’s side and on the left where we started the trail Maiali, there is the beginning of the trail called Molini. Maybe it is a bit less “built” than Maiali but the same fun. It starts directly with a steep section and every now and then you go through rock canals and there are many bend well made.
It is one of the three trails that are part of the east side of the Bike Park. The Antenne is a famous and funny trail with sea view. Halfway along the trail you will find the famous drop “Salto nel Blu”, called like this because it seems you are jumping in the sea! There you have to stop to take a picture.
NB: at the end the trail is divided into different branches and all of them lead you to Cervo.
Every year on this trail the associations of the area organize a downhill race and it is possible thanks to its characteristics, which make it the ideal trail for the downhill lovers. Shores, drops, flow and rocky sections make San Rocco a very technical trail if tackled at high speed.
This trail is the last one built by Apache Trails Builders. It goes down parallel to the Antenne trail but it is a different kind of trail and in fact it is built in “New School” style. It is a fast and flow trail and it has many drops sections. One of these drops is the one in the picture with which we opened the article and it could be the new “Salto nel Blu”!
